What's Down With The Brown?

by Brownscape Staff

Made in India? Update
Deepti Paul and Mery Diaz took Made in India? to Bard College in Annadale-on-Hudson. The theatre was packed, with many students of the college taking the chance to get involved in the Q&A session after the screening. Many thanks to the organizers for this opportunity. More shows are tentatively scheduled at Georgetown University, Hostos Community College, High Tech High School and Syracuse University. If you are interested in showing Made in India? At your school please email us at info@brownscapeprod.com

DVD download/release!: Made in India? will be released early May 2008 as limited edition DVD and downloadable movie. Stay tuned!

Upcoming Brownscape Collaborations

BP and WHCAP Unite! Our friends at WHCAP will be taking on the role of Art gurus at The Brownbag. They will keep us updated on the latest arts events, news, and independent artists. Please welcome WHCAP to the Brownscape family, and check out their One Mic Lounge every second and fourth Friday at Cafe Espresson on 207th and Broadway. Come and listen or even perform spoken word and acoustic music. On 25th April our very own Mery Diaz and the Kiddos may make a cameo!

BP goes to New Orleans! In the summer of 2008 Deepti and Mery along with 17 other members of their team will be heading down to the site of the Katrina disaster to help build homes for the survivors. They are very exited to be able to contribute to this wonderful cause with sweat, as we don’t really know about their skills with the hammer! Please help make their trip possible by contributing to travel expenses. Donate anything you can, every little bit helps when we all unite. You may donate through facebook (no login necessary).

aPlease keep an eye out for our musical friends Greta's Bakery. They are hooking up with Brownscape for some fun collaborations, and are having a listening party for their new album on May 8th. Brownscape readers are invited to come along and listen to their great sounds (Thursday, May 8, 2008, 8pm at REBAR, 147 Front St, Dumbo, Brooklyn). They have also graciously offered to help us fundraise for our Habitat for Humanities New Orleans trip at the same event. Please check out this link and come to the party, listen to great music and donate to a great cause.
