What's Down with the Brown?

Welcome to the fresh face of Brownscape 2007. We have tons of stuff going on and we apologize for the wait – but we just wanted to cram it all in for you! First off, we changed our name from Brownbag Newsletter to The Brownbag Magazine to highlight our versatility with a new format and look. We also have a new Editor in Chief, Noel Agnew. He brings his stealthy set of library science skills to our humble publication. Mery Diaz will continue to run point and will always be the fearless founder of the Brownbag.

Made in India?

  • Check out the Made in India? trailer and other BP videos on the Brownscape Channel on YouTube! Give us some hits and nice comments!

  • If you have DirecTV, you can see Deepti Paul on MTVdesi. Deepti is a guest panelist on a talk show called “Mouthpiece” discussing young South Asian issues such as love, dating, and marriage. The show airs all week from 3/6 - 3/11/07 on DirecTV or Verizon Fios. You can also catch clips and promos of on MTVDesi's website. (Only on PCs)

  • The festival circuit has been kind to Made in India?, but the filmmakers now want to contact colleges and universities to reach young people who may be interested in the topic of arranged marriage. Producer Sudha Narasimhan will run point on this outreach effort. Possible screenings in April include Hunter College and NYU. Stay tuned…
